I only recently became a fan of Kimiko, after her match
against Steffi @ Wimbledon (which I still feel, had the
match not been postponed due to darkness, Kimiko would have
won). I had hoped to watch her play at the US Open this
year, but did not get the chance. Now I will never have
the chance to watch her play again. Kimiko has been a fine
role model for Japanese and Asian women all around the
world. I do think that she still has more to offer to the
sport of tennis and that she has not reached her peak yet.
Hopefully, she will reconsider her decision...

Kimiko is the most inspiring athlete I've seen in any sport throught the 90's. She has dazzled me and inspired me to watch tennis during a time when it was being dominated. I think that Kimiko is the most polite, respectful player on the tour, and will be missed by her fans all over the world. A great player like Kimiko could only touch the hearts of so many people. Kimiko, is you're reading, we love you and thank you for the great memories.

Last week, I was watching Kimiko's play at the Nitilei Ladies.
It was my first time that I can watch her on the court.
I felt happy. I was filled with power. I was impressed....
Now, I feel like when I lose some important things.
About ten yeas ago, Japanese popular singer Momoe retired on the
peak for married. I've read that Kimiko thinks about Momoe.
Anyway, it's her choice.
I can only say please be happy and thank you.

It is greatly saddening to know that you will be retiring
at the conclusion of this year. I consider you a very good
example of how one person's drive can push him/her to great
things. Congratulations on your victory over Graf. And
congratulations to you on your great and wondrous career.

I am very surprised to hear about Kimiko Date's retirement. She is a
fiesty player with a distinctive style. I was fortunate to

I just cannot believe that this is happening.... first I'd thought that I was watching a dream.. but well.. I guess I was not. Like the other guy who signed the guestbook, it's really sad, and ironic, that I got to know this homepage for first time on the day after Ms.Date's annoucement of her retirement. Although I would like to respect her decision, but like the other fellows I would like to hope that she will be reconsidering and make a come back in the future. And I do wish that someday Ms.Date get to read this guestbook, and see how many people miss her from, literally, bottom of our heart. It's just so sad that she had to retire, but I guess that's Kimiko's style... she was a bit different from the other Japanese tennis players. Date-san, I would never forget your magnificant career, and I just hope to see your smile again on the tennis court. ....You just don't realize how many people are going to miss you, and how many people around the world are shocked and dissapointed, lady. But nice job, you deserve an award from government. You accomplished so much, and your contribution to the sport will never be forgotten. You will be missed, very very much.

I was very impressed with your form at both Wimbledon and the Toshiba classic. I know you would have won Wimbledon had it not been for the delay of play. In my eyes, you are the next possible person to hit top 3. Just give that serve a little bigger hit and you'll be on your way.

Hello Kimiko!!I think you are the best player in the world!!
I think you have the ability to become No.1! Just work on your serve a little bit.
Move your weight forward, b/c you tend to stay upright.

I was thoroughly impressed by Kimiko's play in the 2nd and 3rd sets of the Toshiba finals
and see nothing but success for her in the U.S. Open. She is an outstanding player who is
moving her way towards greatness. Good luck in the Open Kimiko.
Keep your racket up!!

Kimiko is probably one the most underated professional female tennis players in the world today.
We are talking about someone who has reached as high as the number four ranking in the world; yet barely has any pictures, articles, or anything else about her in tennis magazines and on the television.
It is pathetic how they put out articles (not to mention so much hype) about people who are even ranked below Kimiko. Kimiko should have came first.
Even the television is biased, as for showing her matches concerns. They would rather show a tennnis match between two players whom nobody has ever heard of before they would broadcast one of Kimiko's matches.
It is so hard to find anything on her! Thank God for this Kimiko Date homepage!!! :)

Kimiko is a very lovely and talented young lady. I enjoy watching
tennis and am looking foward to the U.S.Open. Your home page for
Kimiko is very well done; I trust she approves of your work. It
reflects your appreciation for her, I think. Has she seen your
home page? Does she approve?
